King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi administers placement tests for first-year students with the following objectives:

  • To utilize the data for developing plans in English, mathematics, physics, and chemistry for incoming students.
  • To analyze the results and provide feedback to the relevant department to improve and enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
  • To utilize the data to create individualized development plans for each student from their first year through graduation, thereby promoting continuous development of their English language skills.
  • To establish an English proficiency baseline for incoming students and to place students in appropriate English courses.
  • To provide students with insight into their own soft skill assessments. This includes identifying strengths and areas for improvement, serving as foundational information for the Global Competency Development Center (GCDC) to design and implement learning modules tailored to skill development needs.
“Soft skills encompass personal skills, social skills, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and personality traits that facilitate effective collaboration with others.”

Important notes:

  • The results of the placement tests will not affect a student's eligibility for admission at KMUTT.
  • In case of unforeseen circumstances preventing a student from taking the test as scheduled, they should inform the Registrar’s Office, which will compile a list of affected students and explore the possibility of arranging a make-up test.
